Product Description |
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is the sequel to Capcom's highly successful, million-selling Wii title, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. A rail shooter with an included two-player co-op play option, The Darkside Chronicles is set within a new compelling story which sees the return of series favorites Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield to the fray in new and classic levels. The game also contains customizable weapons, a wealth of collectibles and a dynamic difficulty feature that automatically adjusts to players' abilities, which together ensure a fun, yet challenging Resident Evil gaming experience, regardless of skill level. Fan favorites from the RE series. View larger. | Classic game levels and environments. View larger. | Heart-pounding co-op play. View larger. | New Enemies and Familiar Faces Unlike the evil enemies you fought against in the previous story, in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, players will fight against the characters' own inner demons, adding a whole new level of terror. Balancing this out, two of the most popular characters of the overall series and heroes of the beloved Resident Evil 2, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, make their return. As unconventional heroes, the two start out the game as ordinary individuals who are thrown into terrorizing situations where their own fear is their biggest enemy. Featuring a brand new storyline that will fill in missing pieces of the "Chronicles" series, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles leads players into a horrific world where the lines between good and evil are blurred and the fight begins with your dark side. Rail Shooter Action with New Features The game's arcade, rail shooter gameplay, first featured in Resident Evil:The Umbrella Chronicles, in which players follow a set path through the game, has been radically upgraded in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. Along with this, the game contains a horde of new features, including the major additions of a sub-screen which allows for weapon configuration and use of recovery items regardless of time progression, and a new system that allows players to modify the difficulty level according to their playing skills that brings accessibility and fun to both the hardcore and casual gamer alike. Coop Gameplay Continuing in the survival horror tradition, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles increases the thrills and chills with an enhanced two-player co-op mode in which players will be able to follow their partners on the same screen. Their conversations and interactions have also been improved to create a more intense co-op experience. More Frightening Than Ever A more terrifying experience than ever before, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles combines a shaky and realistic handheld camera experience with an eerie soundtrack and creepy sound effects utilizing state-of-the-art technology. Key Game Features - Two-Player Co-op Shooting - Invite friends and family to experience the horror alongside you in 2-player co-op mode.
- Revisit Classic Resident Evil Levels - Experience environments and areas from classic Resident Evil titles such as Raccoon City from Resident Evil 2 and the hidden Umbrella laboratory from Resident Evil: Code Veronica, as well as scenarios that will be all new to Darkside Chronicles.
- Fan Favorite Characters Return - Play as Leon S. Kennedy, protagonist of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, his partner Claire Redfield, who appeared in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica, and others still to be announced.
- Customizable Weapons - Players can upgrade and customize their weapons for each battle scenario. Each playable character can be specialized for a specific combat style.
- Dynamic Difficulty - In addition to the initial settings of Easy, Normal and Hard, the game's difficulty level will adjust automatically based on the player's skill level so that both old and new fans can have a fun and challenging experience.
- Collectibles Galore - For true Resident Evil devotees, archive items such as characters, enemies, old documents and movies can be found throughout the game.

Definitely better than the first

| Reviewer: Dead Hippie, |
At the time of writing this review, I have only beaten 4 or 5 levels, but that feels like enough to make this review, so others will know a bit more about the game. First off, the graphics are TERRIFIC, compared to the first game. The gameplay is about the same (it's a rail-shooter after all)(for those who don't know what a rail-shooter is: a "rail-shooter" is a first person perspective game that gives a targeting cursor on the screen. For this game and "Umbrella Chronicles", you use the Wii remote by pointing where you want to shoot and press the 'B' button. The camera moves on a predetermined path and you have no control when the camera moves. That's a "rail-shooter" summed up for you). Speaking of the Wii remote, the NEW feature that I noticed (and love) is: you are able to assign four weapons to the Wii remote's D-Pad. During the game, when you want a particular weapon, all you need to do is tap that particular D-Pad direction. (In "Umbrella Chronicles", you had to cycle through your weapons, that was time-consuming and annoying.) Another thing that I noticed is, it seems, that you can no longer perform "counter attacks" (like in "Umbrella Chronicles"). While that isn't too bad, it just means you have to be quicker on the trigger. Also, head shots do seem a little easier than in "Umbrella Chronicles".
In short, I'm very happy with this game. I definitely recommend it to any fans of the Resident Evil franchise. To others who are not fans, but are looking for a good rail-shooter, or are looking for an overview of Resident Evil 2 and 4 (If I remember correctly, those two Resident Evil titles should be the focus of this game (like Resident Evil 1 and 3 was the focus of "Umbrella Chronicles")), this game should do the trick.
If you buy the game: HAVE FUN!
EDIT: this game does not feature levels from Resident Evil 4.

Better the 2nd time around

| The first RE shooter game on Wii was pretty decent, if not just a typical on-rails shooter. The sequel, however, ups the ante with better graphics, a more cohesive flow to the narrative, and an overall more enjoyable experience than the first. The "shaky-cam" that has been the subject of many reviews and previews can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. Yes, it can be irritating when you can't line up shots properly because the camera starts acing up, but on the other hand it adds a sense of panic and realism to the experience and makes you feel like you're right in on the action. If you stick with it, you'll get used to it and appreciate the package more. Another great Wii game and highly recommended! |
A Great Game For Resident Evil Fans But At The End The Same As Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles

| After playing the Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles I was sure I'd be amazed at how great this next release would be, and for the most part I was right but there is some letdown with the game as well. The game does support better graphics during the game and you get great visual cut scenes that you can replay after finishing the level but the controls and the way it feels is so reminiscent of REUC that it feels a little like deja vu to much to say it's really different from the previous game as some advertiser have said. The game allows you to customize your weapons but instead of gaining star points to do it you have to find gold and when you have enough than upgrade which will take a while to do for some weapons, also there is no camera control at all in this game so you can't use the nunchuck to scope around the level looking for hidden cache of items like REUC allowed but unlike REUC you can save up on health plants to use latter on in a crunch instead of using it automatically like the REUC game did. You also can see how you did with your score over the Nintendo's WI-FI against other players on the net and see your standing which is kind of neat. The game like REUC has three game stories the first has you play either Leon Kennedy or Jack Krauser in South America looking for a dictator who might have acquired a known virus weapon, the second has you playing wither Leon Kennedy or Claire Redfield as you try to escape Raccoon City after it's been overrun by zombies(RE 2), and the third will have you play either Claire Redfield or Steve Burnside trying to escape from the infested again(RE Code Veronica X). So at the end for all Resident Evil fans here's a great release to get for your gaming collection today and for fans who might be interested I'd advise trying the demo at a friends or game store first to see if the game is for you you might just get a kick out of the game enough to buy it too... |
So much better!

| For starters, the reason this game is different is because it is not just flashbacks, it's also taking place before resident evil 4, but after Resident evil 2 and code veronica X. This game brings you back to the past. And remember the veronica virus, RE fans? It's back and stronger than ever! Now Leon and Krauser(Krauser is still a good guy) are on a journey through South Africa and witness the power of the veronica virus. The game also has the best graphics. Every detail is realistic in every way!! You also fight old and new villains throughout this game(William Birkin, Alexia, Exc.). Finally, the weapons in the game are: handgun, TMP, gernade launcher, rocket launcher, bow gun, magnum, and of course grenades. This game is new and awesome so buy it now before it's gone! |
